Throwing in the towel?
It's 2012 when Derk (60), guitarist and sing and songwriter loses his day time job as a driving rane manager.He's trown back to the essential basics of existence in the Netherlands.
Despite all the troubles that comes along with loosing his job he refuses to throw in the the towel. Derk is stunned and angry with the society in which there seems to be for him and many others in te same situation no place anymore. He believes that specially the people of his age and experience in life and set of skills can be very valuable for others and employers.
Out of frustration and the urge to do something good for the society he starts to clean the neighborhood. Daily he removes all the trash that is left behind by other people and causes a rat infestation around the area he lives.
Despite the promises from the local government and the housing corporation nothing much is done to prevent that people trow trash and to prevent the rat infestation. Thanks to the determination of Derk the neighborhood is much cleaner and hardly any rats are seen anymore.
The cleaning has not been limited to the trash in the area but also he started to 'clean' his own life. He quit smoking and found the motivation to practice guitar playing and started to write songs. He works hard to give his life a positive twist and looks forward to the future again.
Cleaning the neighborhood is still necessary and the job...
